One tail bag, one backpack and a list we have refined over ten seasons: what goes in, what stays at home and how to keep it all dry.

Start with the road

Every trip begins with a map and a guess at the weather. We plan for the worst hour, not the best one, and pack so that the right layer is always on top.

Gear that earns its place

Anything that rattles, leaks or rubs on day one will be unbearable by day four. We test each piece for a full season before it reaches the shop.

Ride your own ride, and stop before you are tired.

Back home

Wash the salt off, dry the gloves slowly and write down what you would change. That list is how the next trip gets better.
